About
Born and bought up in rural England, Tracy has always been creating art in one form or another. She graduated with a degree in Graphic Design before immigrating to Canada. She is proud to have lived and experienced some of Canada’s more remote areas (Uranium City on the North shore of Lake Athabasca in Saskatchewan and Nanisivik on the North West tip of Baffin Island) before moving to Toronto to begin her successful career in editorial design and advertising. After twenty years of city life she moved her family to the tiny rural village of Harrowsmith in Ontario where she bought a 125 year old farm house.
Twenty years ago she fell in love with glass beads and began creating very unique and complicated beaded jewelry. Five years ago she began exploring fused glass as it allowed her to be able to work on it easily from her home studio.
Statement
Art has always been a part of my life, it is how I see the world, my inner expression of things I cannot put into words. I am constantly looking around me and paying attention to nature as I feel nothing is ever out of place in nature.
When I create a piece of fused glass, I combine layers upon layers of different glass. It is the combination of the clarity, vibrancy and depth of colour that creates the textures I love. The excitement of the unexpected when the firing is complete is what inspires a new idea. Each piece however small is made with love and in the hope something beautiful is going out into the world.
